Special Event: The 31 Days of Wishes!- COMPLETE!:icongingerbreadlaplzecember is the MONTH OF GIVING!:icongingerbreadlaplz:
That is right, we have a special event going on during the month of giving! As a group dedicated to giving, we thought it would be fun to grant one wish every single day of the month! Get out your
How it works...
Every single day, iLantiis will get online in the morning, update the wishlists, update the database, and pull from the ENTIRE DATABASE three names. She will submit those names to her team who will verify, starting with the first name drawn, that the accounts are still active and within the rules of our group. ONLY ONE wish will be granted (or none if all the users are in violation of our policies which shouldn't happen since we just did a massive clean-up in November). The two members whose wish was not granted simply get added back into the database for future drawings as though their names were never pulled.
Pending Wishes to be CompletedHelp us finish granting these wishes!
Drop them a few comments, suggest a DD, give a watch or a fave, or simply tell a friend about this blog!

Monday MusesWelcome to our activity on Mondays - Monday Muses!
It's all about the artists and artworks that inspire you!
There are many ways someone can be an inspiration. By displaying inspiring community spirit, or providing helpful resources for example. Or maybe you just stumbled over an amazing artwork that simply knocked you off your feet and inspired you to make something of your own right away.
No matter what it is, we want you to share it!
Simply pick an artist or deviation you find inspiring in some way, and post them in a comment on this journal. Please also include why you chose that artist or artwork.
Your suggestions will be featured next week!
This week's Muses are:

An important reminder...Since the last rant didn't help anyone understand the consequences of their actions...
I was very serious when I said I would not play games anymore. Again, in just the last few days, we have had an absurd amount of current members as well as potential members harass not just our admin team but random members of this group because they are mad about our rules, deviantART rules, US law, or something even more stupid.
I hate writing these blogs because this is supposed to be a positive group intended to help people. However, it is very difficult for me and the entire admin team (and now unfortunately a group of random members) to be positive or to simply operate and help people when we are being so blatantly attacked and harassed.
So, the bottom line is this:
If I or the Review Team tells you to do something, do it or stop complaining. If I or the Review Team point out and explain to you that your actions are rude and then tell you why they are rude, don't throw a mas
A Serious WarningI am not playing around with this anymore.
And now a second warning since this warning didn't make it clear enough.
We have rules here. I and my admin team will not be further harassed by people who refuse to follow those rules or who think they should get special treatment for whatever reason.
We draw wishes at random. That is the final word on that.
If your wish is so difficult that it can't be granted easily or within 2 months of being randomly drawn, it will be listed as completed so you can make a new wish. We try VERY HARD to grant these wishes, but some just end up NOT BEING POSSIBLE. If you have a problem with this, stick to the types of wishes we outline in our FAQ. If not, don't complain to us when we do all we can but end up unable to grant it fully.
If you make a wish that is so hard to grant that it has to go to the pending list for 30 or 60 days after we do our be

FAQ (UPD 5/1/2013): Point wish max reducedJoining
ONLY MEMBERS can have their wishes listed. Please read this blog to learn how to join!
Why would I be declined from joining?
We decline deviants for various reasons. As a group geared towards creating a positive atmosphere on deviantART, we try really hard to not decline anyone. We do decline anyone in clear violation of deviantART policy and those individuals who harass the admins of this group. As of 8/25/2013, accounts under 1 month of age are not permitted to join due to difficulties that have experienced with these members regarding moved accounts among other factors (although once a new account that wasn't from a moved deviant has turned 1 month old, they may attempt to join). Accounts that are under 1 month from a moved member will be required to mention the name of their previous account during review.

Why You Should Keep Writing
Q: What do you guys think of my story so far? Should I keep going?
This seems to be a very popular question. I'll argue it's a useless question, and explain why.
This reply is directed at new writers, and despite the tone that may follow, I really do intend to be sincere and helpful. I was once a newbie, too. And although I'm certainly not going to claim to be great, I've fallen flat on my face enough times to learn how to pick myself up and produce something I'm proud of.
Here's why you need to not ask this question. You're either going to succeed, or you're going to fail. But, either way, you'll be better off for having:
2. Figured out how to motivate yourself to continue
3. Completed the entire first run of the story yourself
1 ~ I can speculate that there are plenty of people out there who are afraid of failure. I know first-hand. I'm not a professional writer. I teach mathematics. And it is my job every Fall to convince a hu

A Look at EmbroideryWhat is embroidery?
Embroidery is a sub-genre of Needlecraft. It is broadly defined as the art of decorating fabric or similar materials with a needle and thread (or yarn).
The applications of embroidery are as wide as imagination allows. It has been and still is widely used to decorate all manner of clothing, from wedding gowns to hats. Embroidery is used to make rugs, adorn quilts or even to make pictures out of.
Embroidery first found its roots in ancient China, around 500-300BCE. The need for stitches to mend, tailor and reinforce cloth led to the development of many new sewing techniques. The decorative potential of these stitches was quickly realised, and soon the art form of embroidery was born. Each culture has its own history, tradition and style of embroidery, each as beautiful and captivating as the next.
Today, machine embroidery has lessened the prevalence of hand embroidery, but there are still many individuals who practise it, both as hobbyists and pr

How photography helped end a warIt's said that a picture says a thousand words, but this isn't always true. Sometimes they say far more than that. Un-edited photography is the closest medium we have to capturing reality, and for that reason it's incredibly powerful. On a personal level, photographs help us capture memories of our loved ones, and of times gone by. On a larger scale, pictures can tell stories of hardship, suffering and hope in a language that transcends culture. Photography can evoke emotion - but more than that, it can move people to action.
The power of photography was maybe never clearer than during the Vietnam war (1955 - 1975).
There are three pictures in particular that became iconic. They showed the human side of war, and the inhumane side of it. They showed the true horror that people endure and what kind of brutalities it makes people commit to other human beings. As the war dragged on, there was a growing movement of people who opposed the war. These pictures served as a powerful catalyst, an

After Holiday BREATHING: A PoemSo, the holidays are now over
The world has not ended
A group full of members
Now waits patiently as the admins mend.
Week one of 2013 is here
But oh my oh dear
Not a whisper is heard
Not an update is near!
Dear Lantiis is sleeping
While a little Froggy starts breathing
Little James is relaxing
While Rainy sits a-dreaming.
Our humble Hisa is giggling
And a sweet Heart gives a big hug
AJ dances a jig
While the Widget settles in...
Santa has packed up his bags
The confetti is swept off the floors
Our eyelids start to hang and sag
So a long nap seems at hand...
But rest assured
We won't be resting long
Random updates will appear
Filled with new year cheers!
So off we go
Snuggled up with pillows
Regular blogs will return in a week
So stay tuned our happy peeps!
Keep in Touch!
